Australian Year 12 to Singapore: ATAR & University Entry

Applying to Singapore with Australian Year 12? Check ATAR, final results, subject prerequisites and NUS requirements alongside your application checklist.

School and qualification comparison

Can Australian Year 12 students apply to university in Singapore?

NUS publishes an admissions category for Australian high-school qualifications. Use the exact state or territory certificate, final results and ATAR record when checking eligibility. Each university and programme sets its own conditions; meeting a minimum application requirement does not guarantee an offer.

Official sources checked . Planning guidance by Study Abroad Anywhere; the receiving institution confirms individual decisions.

Identify the qualification before reading the entry rules

Australian Year 12 is a school stage, while the leaving certificate identifies the qualification. NUS lists certificates from the Australian Capital Territory, New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Victoria and Western Australia. Match the actual certificate to the university’s category rather than converting it into a Singapore A-Level result yourself.

Read NUS requirements as one institution’s example

At this review, NUS lists an ATAR of at least 90 or OP of at least 6 as its minimum to apply under Australian High School, with the relevant result reports. Its page says applicants completing the final examination after the application closing date are not eligible in this category. It does not require an additional standardised test here; applicants who did not take English Language must provide an accepted English score. Recheck the page for your intake.

Build a course-specific shortlist

For every university, record the qualification category, results timing, prerequisite subjects, English evidence, and application deadline. Keep admission and any later credit or advanced-standing request as separate decisions. If the results date does not fit the application window, ask admissions which intake or alternative application category is appropriate before submitting.

Prepare your transfer or application file

  1. Prepare the exact Australian certificate name, awarding authority and final subject results.
  2. Keep the ATAR or other required ranking report alongside the certificate, rather than substituting one for the other.
  3. Check whether final results will be available before each institution’s closing date.
  4. Record programme prerequisites and any portfolio, interview or other selection steps on the course page.
  5. Verify English evidence for the qualification and applicant category; save the official requirement link with your shortlist.

Common questions about this route

Does an ATAR of 90 guarantee admission to NUS?

No. The published threshold is a minimum to apply, not an offer guarantee. Eligibility, programme selection and admission are different stages.

Can I use the same requirements for every Singapore university?

No. The NUS example only describes its Australian High School category. Check the other university’s own qualification and programme pages, including the correct category for your citizenship or residence status.
