Four things to check before SAT
For families and consulting teams- Check which country or institution authorises the current school’s diploma, and whether it is only a teaching provider.
- Check whether school staff can send transcripts directly to universities and whether subjects, grades/year levels, instruction hours, grading scale, and expected graduation date appear.
- Send each university an anonymous school profile and obtain written confirmation that the qualification is accepted for first-year admission.
- If it is not recognised, ask which lawful alternative qualifications the university accepts. Do not choose a Korean equivalency exam, GED, A Level, IB, or another route arbitrarily; decide from the university’s response.
The consultation team must not arbitrarily classify the student as homeschooled or misstate the school’s status. School type and awarding body must match the facts across all applications.

The role of an SAT score in the 1350s
For families and consulting teamsThis score may add evidence of reading, writing, and maths readiness, but cannot alone establish admission chances. Portfolio-focused schools such as RISD, Parsons, Pratt, and SAIC separately assess concepts, process, observation, experimentation, and fit with the major.
Prioritise the portfolio and an acceptable graduation qualification before retaking SAT. Decide whether to submit scores separately for each school by comparing its 2027 test policy with the student’s full academic record.

2026–27 personal essay topic map

- Failure, challenges, or setbacks, and what the experience taught you
- A time you questioned or challenged an existing belief or idea
- How unexpected gratitude affected motivation and growth
- Personal growth prompted by an achievement, event, or realisation
- A topic or concept that absorbs you completely, and how you learn more about it
- An open topic chosen by the applicant
For arts and sports students, one scene revealing observation, questions, failure and revision, or a distinctive perspective is more useful than repeating a work list in prose. Avoid duplicating school-specific supplemental essays.

07 · Portfolio production
Adapt one master portfolio to three countries’ formats
For families and consulting teams- Master collection: 18–25 finished works + observational work + 3D/material experiments + self-directed projects + process documentation.
- For each work, record its central question, starting point, materials, failures/revisions, your role, and any AI use in 60–100 words.
- US version: condense into 8–20 slides, prioritising narrative and fit with the major.
- Canada version: separate finished work from the process PDF, and prepare school assignments and reflections separately.
- Netherlands version: do not collect only polished, finished-looking answers; foreground experimentation, sketches, observation, 3D, and independent initiative.
