Grades, stages, and local pathways
Foundational Stage · ages 3–8
The NCF uses a 5+3+3+4 curricular structure beginning with the Foundational Stage.
Foundational / Preparatory / Middle stages
Curriculum and grade content must be resolved to the learner’s board and state.
Middle / Secondary stage
Board and state syllabi govern subject progression and Class 10 assessment.
Classes 11–12 / board examinations
Senior-secondary subjects, examination schemes, and passing rules are board-specific.
Vocational / higher education
Institutions use board results and entrance examinations such as CUET where applicable.
