Pre-school class precedes the numbered years of the Folkeskole.

Municipal primary and lower-secondary schools implement the national curriculum framework.

Compulsory schooling normally ends after Year 9, with an optional Year 10.
STX / HHX / HTX / HF or vocational education
Four general programmes and vocational routes have different subjects, duration, and progression.
